Inevitable Act 1 by Johnie Jay is a very good read. I was laughing out loud by page two. Written in an alternating first person account, I was pleasantly surprised that the female voice was pretty true to life and not just some fantasy a male writer chose to put in print. Those ladies were like women I knew – happy, successful, sad, trying to pick up the pieces of their lives, longing to be loved; their conversations candid and uncut as women do with only their closest friends. And the male characters were just like walking in on family members playing cards and talking trash. Much bravado, talking much smack, their conversations had me chuckling and shaking my head, putting me very much in mind of favorite relatives.
Although the sex scenes (whether real or imagined) were very explicit, bordering on raw, there were some real nuggets casually presented throughout the book like the value of long standing marriages, the need to consider one’s future beyond what tangible items and designer items can be purchased, and the obligation to consider how our actions come back around to affect ourselves or others close to us.
The author has taken the time to expose how our experiences, if perceived negatively, can alter who we are and how we deal with others. He also exposes the human frailty that says it’s okay to mistreat others based on how they look or because of lesser social/economic standing. But in the end, it all comes down to wanting to be loved and having someone special to share your life with.
Jay’s debut novel is a hit for sure. It will make you think, laugh and examine your own life…coming away feeling as if you either know the characters or would want to know the characters further. Inevitable Act 1 would make an exceptional read for book clubs and groups, as there are many points worthy of discussion. Great job, Johnie Jay. Can’t wait to read Inevitable Act 2!
Johnie Jay did his thang. I absolutely love this book. I will definetly purchase part 2. Angel and Future are drawn to one another and often times are lost in thought thinking about one another. I could not put this book down. Johnie Jay really put a lot of thought into developing this characters and the storyline. You will not be disappointed.
I loved this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat as I followed the main characters through the streets of drug and warlords. Their were a underlying innocence from growing up so fast and having to learn the rules of the streets, even when it came to your own family. Reminded me so much of the neighborhood where I grew up in Cleveland. This is a must read for men and women alike.
What can I say about inevitable? Freaking awesome book!! From the plot to the storyline .. Yes this is a work of a first time author and he blew my mind.. The characters was so real, you can definitely identify with each and everyone , I love angel the most, I want Brianna ass and T personality sorry forgot her name .. But so looking forward to act 2 ..
This book started off good & somehow it lost me that fast. It was just ok to me. I didn't finish it.
This book had me hooked from the first page! I was so impressed on how a male author was able to make Angel and her friends so relatable. The character Future put me in the mind of the local playboy from the block that everybody knew so it made it that much easier to put a face with a name. I have NEVER actually finished an erotica book from cover to cover because of the lack of interest or just too unrealistical but THIS ONE had me so hooked that I finished it in less than 48 hours including deleted scenes chapter! I'm already into act two and can't wait for more to come! Keep it up and stay encourage
I follow Johnny on IG and I saw him advertising this book. So me being the curious reader that I am purchased it. I didn't read it right away, I wanted to save it for my weekend read. Let me first start off by saying that this book was all that and then some! It was so refreshing reading something from a males out look! I Loved the dynamics of everyone in this book. Angel and her girls are the true definition ofa sisterhood. Don't get me started on Future!!! *fans self* talk about a player but one who knows how to and aims to please! I can not stand Kandi, but I ain't mad at her! She sees what she wants and goes after it! I love the way that this book is going and I'm looking forward to it coming or "cumming" to a head. Destiny is really something amazing! Now on to part 2 I go!!!
I highly recommend you get this book. It will make you squirm and raise your temperature several degrees! Angel and her friends are rambunctious and ready. They are beautiful and know exactly how a man should please them and when he can't they aren't strangers at producing their own satisfaction. The two main characters, Angel and Future can't stop thinking about one another and find themselves in some wet and sticky messes. I couldn't put this book down. It took me a bit to read it but once I got down to the core my curiosity rose and I wanted more. There are some crazy analogies in the book that will make you laugh and one scene with Angel and Pierre that will almost make you bust your guts! This book is crazy, sexy, cool! I am waiting with tiptoe anticipation for Act 2 when I will learn if boy gets girl and if Jujuan is as debonair as he seems or will he have secrets?
